A Perfect Weekend in Murphys

Murphys packs a remarkable amount into a few walkable blocks. Start your morning with coffee on Main Street, then spend the late morning tasting your way through the town's clustered wine rooms; most are within a short stroll of one another.

In the afternoon, drive twenty minutes up Highway 4 to Calaveras Big Trees State Park to walk among the giant sequoias. Come back to town for dinner, and if your visit lines up with a weekend event, you'll often find live music spilling out onto the sidewalks.

Sunday is for a slower pace: the farmers market when it's running, a visit to the Old Timers Museum, and one more tasting room before you head home.
